- Oh, yes, it COULD. But the problem is : WILL it. If Wizztronics is
- actually designing some Falcon clone, they should make an official announcement
- now, because many Falcon users are thinking about leaving the scene, for other
- platforms, the PC, or the new strange animal : the Be Box...

-
- Yes, this is a risk... I think Wizztronics should deliver their
- machines with only one kind a graphic card, which should be a very good one,
- like for example a Matrox Millenium, 2 Mo W-RAM, or even a 3D card, if it's
- cheap enough... The same for the sound card... All this should be placed on a
- PC mother board, which are so cheap...

- I don't agree with you : you forgot one really important point, which
- is that most Atari users are fondamental dreamers, and if you don't give them
- some dream, they won't like your stuff... If Wizztronics' machine (if it exists)
- only have a 56xxx, people won't dream. I surely won't... This is wgy some ones
- are thinking about the BeBox : it's presented a a dreamer Hi-Tech machine...
- Wizztronics must take care with that... Furthermore, if this computer comes out
- its MHz rate must be well calculated, as a 66 Mhz rate will be the STRICT
- minimum, because if people don't know quite well about technology, they will
- consider that a machine with 'only a 50 Mhz 68040 + DSP' can't beat a 166
- Pentium... This is why the project will be defeated, if we don't have 68040 +
- 96002 66 MHz... And this machine would really have HUGE abilities... :), as I
- can remember that a 66 Mhz 96002 develops something like 80 MIPS... I don't
- know if it's difficult to design a multi DSP card ? This would be a great way
- to have a more powerful machine, as people like Doug will always be able to
- make a great use of a 'poor little DSP'... (I'd really like to see Bad Mood 3D
- on this computer :)). I really don't know what is a 96002 price ?
- The other problem is the low amount of software available
- on our machines, in comparison with the PC world, particularly for games...
- This is why I think it would be really important to ensure the development of
- a PC emulator for this machine. With a PCI bus, a _PC_ graphic card and a _PC_
- sound card, it must be quite easy to do... This way, we could benefit of the
- large amount of software of the PC logitheque, and have our cool environment.
- Quite a cool way to compare software between the two platforms...

-
- TRUE ! The only way to procede is to abandon the ST compatibility (even
- perhaps the Falcon 030 compatibility...). BUT Wizztronics should give a machine
- for a few weeks, to coders who want to modify their creation on the 'Falcon
- O4O' (?), and make give a machine to some large Software edition companies, as
- Akklaim, ID software (so that Dougie can have holidays :)), and so on...
-
-
- But this is only another 'in the blue' dreamer message, and only the
- future can tell if this machine is possible... :) Does anyone know Wizztronics
- e-mail adress ? I'd really like to know what they do have in their secret
- boxes... :)
